Statue BY Adonia NYX Smoldering with passion Doused with rage I’m a frightened bird trapped in this clay, sculpted cage. Simple desire, raging with fire I’m a storm rolling in With its jolting live wire. Heart stopping kisses, a loving embrace These sweet senses my mind can’t erase Laughter and tears, happiness, fears I have not felt these in too many years. I am the stone that lacks movement or life You stare from afar, knowing not of my strife. Look at my face, see all of my pain Watch my tears fall like the early spring rain. I remain erect, standing through all of the storms I’ve endured pain and suffering in all of its forms This statue you see now, before you so still My sculptor has numbed me my spirit was killed. Born of his desire, I remain his prize The rage deep inside me beyond weight or size. Someday when I feel I no longer can take I will be set free from this statue I’ll break. ‘Til then you and everyone else on this day Can stand there and stare, knowing not my dismay. I am this stone statue, my emotions did fade Until life returns, I can only be clay.
