John..I have some issues to solve with this cam.. Here is why its not working: WHAT CAMARADES SAID:When someone views your webcam, the webpage they are looking at connects directly to the PC on which you are running webcam. Every machine that is connected to the internet is assigned an IP number. To connect to your PC, the IP number is used. A proxy server, firewall, Internet connection sharing, modem sharing and many home networks connect to the internet via one machine, this machine is assigned an IP number. Other computers you connect to your 'network' will be connected to the internet via the other PC. No matter which PC you are using, you'll only have the one IP number. (Usually your connection sharing or proxy will assign local/fake IP numbers to your other connected computers). So, if you are running webcam on a different computer, your camarades page will try to connect to your IP number, but this will in fact 'point' to the PC that runs the proxy, or has the modem attached to it. Your video won't appear on your page, instead you get a red x, because it is looking for it on the wrong machine. Get it ? So, what's the solution? Two, maybe three, things need to be done: 1. Traffic must be allowed on Ports 2047 and 2048 (both TCP/IP), webcam uses these ports to send video. 2. You need to map your addresses in such a way that when someone connects to your IP number, on port 2047 or 2048, he/she will be connected to the right PC in your network (the one running webcam) 3. On strict firewalls you may also need to open UDP/IP port 1972. The IP number of the machine on which you are running the webcam server must match the IP number that is posted to your Camarades page (view the source of your page and type "winipcfg" in the windows run box to check). If this is not the case, either map your addresses correcly or make sure you run webcam on the machine that has the physical connection. SO now i have to figure out how to fix it!..If you know how e-mail me at yashu0002@yahoo.com
